MONSTER JAM BREAKS 6 GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS TITLES.

Driver Bari Musawwir shares his experience from “Behind the Action”

Monster Jam is back and returns to Arlington for a high-octane family filled weekend at AT&T Stadium on October 24th and 25th.

Even though the show was paused for a little, the drivers did not let the trucks stay idle. Over the summer,  Monster Jam and their drivers attempted 7 world records and officially set 6 Guinness World Records. GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS, the global authority in record-breaking, validated six official titles at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton, Florida.

For those that have never attended a Monster Jam live show, you may have a misconception of Monster Jam. The old view of Monster Trucks crushing cars and revving engines is just not accurate.

Bari Musawwir became the holder of two separate GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS titles: most donuts (rotations) in a monster truck in one minute and most consecutive donuts (rotations) in a monster truck.  Driving the Zombie Monster Jam truck and staying within a 77-foot diameter circle, Musawwir completed 44 donuts in one minute and 58 consecutively, beating the existing records of 41 for both.  More than 100 donuts were performed across four attempts before proving successful.

“Monster Jam is one of the best platforms ever as a driver and someone who wants to be a part of the greater community,” said Musawwir. “Monster Jam is built for community engagement, reaching out to all walks of life. From kids to grandparents and everyone in between, we want to put a smile on everyone’s face. But do not underestimate the power those trucks have beyond the horsepower and performance. Monster Jam trucks change lives. I am the perfect example. I was six years old when my mom took me to my first show in Pontiac, Michigan and that was it for me. That altered my life and was my goal from that moment forward, to be a Monster Jam driver.”

And now, a decade later behind the wheel, Musawwir owns two world records and is building his legacy on and off the course.

“From having the childhood dream and to fulfill that dream and to now have the ability to share my story worldwide and to be able to impact the life of someone else through Monster Jam in a way that inspired me is special. Whether the dream is to drive a truck on Monster Jam or pursue that passion elsewhere, we want to showcase that you can do anything when the work is put in.”

The sport is captivating when you watch it live.

“My son is six years old now and that was the same age I was when I fell in love with the truck too,” said Musawwir. “I reflect at how I was at that age, and to watch him learn and discover what these machines are capable of through his eyes while being both a driver and a father is a unique bond that I hold close. In many ways, I see a young version of myself and it brings back such fond memories of discovering the world of Monster Jam. When you get to be a part of an event live, it is an experience that is unmatched. To feel and hear the power and sounds of the trucks, you get to have that moment of discovery for yourself. I still have moments personally where that moment of wow still happens for me.”

While the truck is designed to push the limits of performance, it is the driver who may be the hinderance in a live show or during a world record attempt.

“I feel like it has taken my whole career up to this point, the amount of seat time in the truck, to feel physically and mentally prepared to undertake a stunt like this,” said Musawwir. “My experience behind the wheel help me to know the limits of my body and the truck and to be prepared for unforeseen factors that might come up. When you are in control of the things you can control, when other challenges arise like the grade of the surface or the traction changing as I put more rubber on the ground, the easier they are to attack and get past.”

Arlington fans will witness a fierce battle for the event championship with each skilled Monster Jam athlete tearing up the dirt with gravity-defying feats in 12,000-pound Monster Jam trucks going head-to-head for points in Freestyle, the Skills Challenge and Racing competitions.  Plus, fans can become part of the action by voting for the winner in the Skills Challenge and Freestyle competitions via real-time, in-stadium fan voting on their smartphones.

The all-star truck lineup marks the first time in regular competition that the three Anderson siblings will battle against each other in the same Monster Jam event: the legendary Grave Digger will be driven by Krysten; fan-favorite Adam trades his black and green wrecking machine for Megalodon, the truck that redefined the phrase “jumping the shark” and set the GUINNESS WORLD RECORD title for the most monster trucks jumped by a monster truck; and in a limited-time, special appearance, Ryan gets behind the wheel of Bakugan Dragonoid.

“Being a part of the Monster Jam family is an experience like no other,” said Musawwir. “To be a driver that they have confidence in for world record attempts and to continue to showcase the sport to families around the world, it is a daily blessing.”

Monster Jam GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS Titles & Attempts:

  • Highest ramp jump – monster truck (Record Set)
  • Krysten Anderson, the first and only female driver of Grave Digger®, set the record for the highest ramp jump – monster truck on her first attempt, traveling 33.8 feet in the air from the top of the ramp to the bottom of the back tire.  She beat the previous record, 21.33 feet, by 12.5 feet.
  • Longest stoppie (nose wheelie) on a monster truck (distance) (Record Set)
  • 12-time Monster Jam World Finals® Champion, Tom Meents, driving Max-D™, completed the longest nose wheelie in a monster truck for a total distance of 209 feet on his 4th attempt. His record to beat was 50.85 feet.  To set the record, GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS requires all tires to land on the ground; in his 5th attempt he traveled more than 600 feet, but all tires did not land on the ground, requiring him to submit his 4th attempt.
  •  Fastest speed for a monster truck (Record Set)
  • Now officially the fastest Monster Jam driver in the world, Bryce Kenny, driving Great Clips Mohawk Warrior®, was able to set a speed record at 100.31, which no one has ever gone over 100 mph in a monster truck. The previous record was 99.1 mph.
  •  Most consecutive donuts (spins) in a monster truck (Record Set)
  • After 4 attempts, the most consecutive donuts (spins) in a monster truck is now 58 and was achieved by Bari Musawwir driving Zombie™ while keeping within a 77-foot circle. The record to beat was 41.
  •  Most donuts (spins) in a monster truck in one minute (Record Set)
  • Bari Musawwir also set a record for the most donuts (spins) in a monster truck in one minute at 44 giving him two GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS titles.
  •  Most monster trucks jumped by a monster truck (Record Set)
  • Adam Anderson driving Megalodon® jumped 8 Monster Jam trucks to earn his GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title.  The previous record was jumping 7 Monster Jam trucks, held by Colton Eichelberger set at Monster Jam World Finals® in 2019.
  • First forward momentum double back flip in a monster truck (Attempt)
  • Todd LeDuc attempted the first-ever forward momentum double back flip while driving a monster truck, a stunt no one has ever landed before, with 12 practice attempts by two people.  As he hit the top of the 20-foot ramp on the first attempt, the engine blew.  The on-site technicians had to quickly swap a motor for his second attempt that ended up being unsuccessful and one of the hardest hits in Monster Jam ever.
