Racing will take place on a Saturday, not Sunday, at night in November.
Plus: Formula 1® Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix to Surprise F1 in School Students with Tickets to First-Ever Event at Hard Rock Stadium
Formula One cars will race under the lights down the Las Vegas strip in 2023 as part of a new event on the championship calendar, joining Austin and Miami as U.S. host venues.
Las Vegas will hosts its event on a Saturday night in November, a rarity in an F1 calendar featuring grand prix events on Sundays.
The race will feature some of the city’s most famous landmarks, hotels and casinos in what is a multiyear deal with F1.
The 3.8 mile (6.2km) circuit will see cars race by Caesars Palace, Bellagio Fountain and Mandalay Bay, as well as the ball-shaped MSG Sphere, which is currently under construction and set for completion next year. Top speeds are estimated to be over 212 mph (342 km/h). There will be 50 race laps with three main straights and 14 corners, including a high-speed cornering sequence and a single chicane section.
The date of the first event is yet to be confirmed, but our sources indicate it will be Thanksgiving weekend.
One of the major appeals that allowed for the race to come to the schedule so quickly was the fact that the infrastructure for major events is already there and with so many pedestrian bridges that already line the Las Vegas strip, the need for constructing temporary seating for General Admission is reduced.

Formula 1 and Liberty Media will work together to promote the race in partnership with Live Nation Entertainment and the LVCVA, as well as Founding Partners Caesars Entertainment, MGM Resorts International, and Wynn Las Vegas and Presenting Partners MSG Sphere, Resorts World Las Vegas and The Venetian Resort.
“This is an incredible moment for Formula 1 that demonstrates the huge appeal and growth of our sport with a third race in the US. Las Vegas is a destination known around the world for its excitement, hospitality, thrills, and of course, the famous Strip," said Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1. “There is no better place for Formula 1 to race than in the global entertainment capital of the world and we cannot wait to be here next year. I want to thank everyone who helped deliver this event, especially Governor Sisolak, the Clark County Commission, Steve Hill at the LVCVA, and our local partners.”
American interest in F1, bolstered by Netflix blockbuster series “Drive to Survive," is booming like never before and has led to a surge in interest in hosting races.
This year features the first Miami Grand Prix, taking place May 8. Austin’s Circuit of the Americas has hosted the U.S. Grand Prix since 2012, missing only 2020 due to the pandemic.
