Ferrari is to pay homage to its American Formula 1 history with a special one-off livery for the forthcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix.

The Italian powerhouse, Ferrari, has taken a nostalgic turn with the unveiling of its brand-new livery for the SF-23. The stunning design features a white rear wing, splashes on the engine cover, and a white circular number board, paying homage to previous cars that hold strong connections to the United States.

The decision to adopt an all red-and-white livery required approval from all of Ferrari’s sponsor partners. Drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc will also don new overalls to match the striking new look.

This change in livery is a throwback to Ferrari’s glorious past and the iconic moments it experienced during the booming years of Formula 1 in the United States during the 1970s. The colors bear a striking resemblance to the Ferrari 312B, driven by Mario Andretti, which secured his maiden F1 victory at the 1971 South African Grand Prix.

Throughout the 1970s, Ferrari prominently featured white in their livery, including their championship-winning campaigns with Niki Lauda in 1975 and 1977. The engine covers often sported a combination of white, red, and green, representing the Italian national flag.

Although the use of white diminished after 1978, briefly returning in 1993, a challenging season in 1994 with the F93A prompted Ferrari to revert to an all-red livery. In 2016, the team made another attempt to incorporate white into their livery with the SF-16H, but ongoing difficulties led to the removal of white once more.

The return of the Las Vegas Grand Prix has been a significant investment for Formula 1, with teams hoping the event will generate immense interest in the United States and worldwide, further elevating the championship’s popularity. The race, held at night, will take place on the renowned Las Vegas strip, adding to the allure of this highly anticipated event.

To celebrate Formula 1’s return to Las Vegas, Ferrari has also collaborated with artist Joshua Vides to create exclusive merchandise collections. These collections include limited edition caps and accessories, showcasing the red and white colors that define the team’s livery for the race.

The Back to Vegas Collection highlights Vides’ stylistic signature, reinterpreting motorsport through a series of items ranging from apparel to accessories, all paying homage to the golden age of Formula 1 in America. To be worn at the race track or as everyday wear, the iconic Ferrari red combines with white, as it did on the cars’ bodywork back in the Seventies and on the SF-23 livery in Las Vegas. Also available is the limited edition Replica collection, inspired by the Scuderia team kit: this capsule features a selection of polo shirts, sweatshirts and caps and is aimed particularly at those fans attending the Las Vegas GP wanting to show their support for the team.
