The Toyota U.S. Grand Prix is returning to Breckenridge Ski Resort for the first time in 12 years, bringing the world's top freeski and snowboard slopestyle athletes back to one of Colorado's most influential winter sports destinations Dec. 10–13, 2026.
Announced by U.S. Ski & Snowboard and Breckenridge Ski Resort, the competition will open the domestic portion of the 2026–27 FIS freeski and snowboard World Cup season. The event also marks the beginning of the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix's 30th anniversary winter and is one of 13 World Cup events scheduled across the United States this season.
Breckenridge has played a significant role in the development of competitive snowboarding and freeskiing. The resort became the first major Colorado ski area to permit snowboarding in 1984 and has since developed a reputation for progressive terrain parks that have helped train generations of elite athletes. Renowned course designer Charles Beckinsale will oversee construction of the slopestyle course for the returning competition.
“Twelve years is a long time to be away, and we are proud to kick off the domestic freeski and snowboard World Cup season in Breckenridge,” said U.S. Ski & Snowboard President and CEO Sophie Goldschmidt. “This is one of 13 World Cup events we have in the U.S. this winter and hosting at a resort with this much history sets the tone for the season.”
Competition begins Thursday, Dec. 10, with freeski slopestyle qualifying, followed by snowboard qualifying Friday. Freeski finals take place Saturday, Dec. 12, before snowboard finals close the weekend Sunday, Dec. 13. Spectators are welcome.
The Breckenridge stop begins a busy stretch of domestic World Cup competition, with the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix continuing at Copper Mountain, Colorado, Dec. 17–20, and Aspen, Colorado, Feb. 25–28. The international season runs through April 2027, highlighted by the FIS Snowboard and Freeski World Championships in Montafon, Austria, March 6–21.
