Formula 1 has announced a six-year extension to its agreement with the Automobile Club of Monaco (ACM), ensuring that the iconic Monaco Grand Prix will continue to be part of the racing calendar until 2031, including the 2025 season. Celebrated as one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world and a supreme test of focus and skill for drivers, the Monaco Grand Prix debuted on the first Formula 1 World Championship calendar in 1950 and has been a fixture since 1955.
Set against the stunning backdrop of the French Riviera, drivers navigate the picturesque streets of Monte Carlo, tackling challenges like the Loews Hairpin, the slowest corner on the F1 circuit, and the renowned Casino Square and Swimming Pool sections. Among the current drivers, Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez, and local hero Charles Leclerc have all won on this legendary 3.3km circuit, joining legends such as Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Michael Schumacher, and Niki Lauda. Notably, Charles Leclerc made history this year as the first Monegasque to win the Grand Prix.
As Formula 1 experiences significant global growth, the allure of the Monaco Grand Prix remains strong. The 2024 Grand Prix attracted over 70 million viewers, making it the most-watched edition in U.S. history and the third most-viewed F1 race ever in the U.S. With this new agreement, the ACM, alongside the Principality, has demonstrated a significant commitment to Formula 1’s sustainability efforts and the goal of creating a sustainable calendar for all stakeholders. Starting in 2026, the Monaco Grand Prix will be held on the first full weekend of June each year.
The 2025 Monaco Grand Prix is scheduled for May 23-25 and will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the race's official F1 debut.
