First Drive: the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV.

No the Chevrolet Bolt is not your typical vehicle that is associated with the action sports industry. It is not the flashy sports car or the biggest truck on the market, but I can tell you from driving the all new 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV, it packs a lot of surprises. And, for some of you, it is the perfect car.

At first glance, the redesign of the exterior and interior is eye catching. Unlike other electric rides, the Bolt EUV does not look like the brave little toaster. There is enough length front to back with the roof racks to put skis, snowboards and even surf or paddleboards. Additionally, the Bolt EUV is sneaky roomy in the trunk with plenty of space for your gear while still maintaining an interior that is open and features plenty of space for sitting with leg room to spare.

The redesigned Bolt EV has an updated sporty, flat-bottomed steering wheel, new front/rear lighting features and interiors, panoramic power sunroof and the industry’s first true hands-free driver assistance system for more than 200,000 miles of enabled road called Super Cruise.

Driving the 2022 Bolt EUV has some spice too! The Bolt’s electric motor provides instant response when you get on the “gas pedal” also known as an accelerator pedal in an all electric car and ample low-end torque that lets you get off the line quick. Not built for racing, but it will still do the job really well. While driving, I engaged Super Cruise and it does what it is advertised to do. Unlike the Tesla, the feature truly works but I can promise you, for those of us that like hands on the wheel, this feature takes some serious getting used to.

If you are still not convinced that the Bolt can be a part of an adventure lifestyle, Chevrolet proved the Bolt EV, the predecessor is capable of completing a California Double (surf and ski in one day) on a single charge, making it from Southern California’s San Onofre State Beach to Snow Summit in the San Bernardino Mountains.

Now who is down to go surfing and not have to pay the price of gas in California?!

We get it. The Chevrolet Bolt EUV may not be the fit for everyone, but if you are looking to go electric but not give up an adventure lifestyle, this probably is the car for you. It was made with you and the outdoors in mind. And if you are the outdoors type with a commute, the Bolt EUV is a win win.
