Sauber launches black and green livery under new name.
The Sauber Formula One team has officially unveiled its new car and livery as part of the rebranding process, adopting the name Stake F1 Team in line with its title sponsor, an online gambling platform.
For the 2024 and 2025 Formula One seasons, Sauber Motorsport has secured a deal with Stake to become its exclusive naming rights partner. The striking black and green livery reflects this new partnership, marking a significant departure from the team’s previous identity as Alfa Romeo, which was in place from 2019 to 2023.
The rebranding reflects Sauber’s shift in commercial partnerships, with the team embracing a new team identity while still acknowledging its roots. The team, known for its technical expertise and competitive spirit, remains under the Sauber Group umbrella, while presenting itself to the F1 community as the Stake F1 Team for the next two seasons.
However, the rebranding has led to some complexity regarding the team’s official name. While the chassis is listed as Kick Sauber on the FIA entry list, the team has emphasized its identity as the Stake F1 Team. Alessandro Alunni Bravi, a representative of the team, explained, “Our new team identity is the Stake F1 Team, but it’s not that we forget Sauber, we are the Sauber Group, and there are a lot of people working there all together."
Due to local regulations on gambling advertising, Stake may not be permitted to appear on the car at certain F1 race locations. In these instances, the team will utilize the name Kick, representing another online gaming platform within the same company as Stake, to ensure compliance with local laws.
Amidst the rebranding, Sauber will continue its racing endeavors with Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu as its drivers for the 2024 season. The new car is set to make its debut on the track in Barcelona before testing commences in Bahrain on February 21st. This marks an exciting new chapter for the team as it embarks on its journey under the banner of the Stake F1 Team.
